Being chosen as a bridesmaid is a beautiful gesture of friendship and trust—but let’s not pretend it’s just vibes and photoshoots. In Ghana, weddings are full of style, and being part of the bridal squad often comes with some serious expenses. Infact, It costs to be a bridesmaid.

It’s also important to note that bridesmaid costs can vary—some brides cover part of the expenses, while others expect the bridal party to handle everything, from fabric to footwear. Your total spend will often depend on the bride’s vision, your location and the kind of wedding being planned (traditional, white, or both).

Breakdown of The Costs To Be a Bridesmaid.

  1. Traditional Ceremony Fabric & Sewing – GHC 500
    The bride usually selects the fabric- either Kente, Tye &Dye, Lace etc and you’ll be responsible for sewing your dress. The total includes the cost of the material and your seamstress/tailor fees. Sometimes if you’re lucky, the bride covers the fabric and you the sewing.
  2. White Wedding Dress – GHC 600
    In some weddings, bridesmaids also wear a second dress for the white wedding ceremony. If the bride requires a second outfit, that’s another cost to factor in.
  3. Jewelry – GHC 100
    Matching jewelry is often part of the bridesmaid look—think earrings, bracelets, or a statement piece to complete the outfit.
  4. Zara Cap – GHC 30
    Yes, even accessories like a Zara cap to complement the traditional wedding look can be part of the package.
  5. Nails – GHC 200
    Whether it’s a French tip or full-on acrylic glam, polished nails are a must.
  6. Lashes – GHC 160
    For the perfect photo-ready look, lashes (either strips or semi-permanent) are now a go-to.
  7. Bridesmaid Hand Fan – GHC 30
    Especially for traditional weddings, a hand fan to match your outfit adds to the looks.
  8. Shoe & Bag – Est. GHC 300 – 600
    Shoes and a bag/purse are usually coordinated with your gown—think silver heels and a matching clutch. This could range depending on your taste and budget.
